The applicant may choose to proceed in this manner if their application was rejected on the grounds that the names and surnames listed on the form were incorrect:
Step 1
Navigate your web browser to https://srd.sassa.gov.za/.
Step 2
Scroll down until you reach the section labelled “Request Names and Surname Update.”
Step 3
Please enter your identification number, first name, and last name exactly as they appear on your South African ID card or document.
Please be aware that the Department of Home Affairs database will only be updated with your new names and surnames if they match the information that is already stored there.
What if my srd grant it is still declined after the updates?
Within the first thirty days after being informed of the decision to decline their application, applicants have the opportunity to submit a request for reconsideration in the event that the application is still rejected after the personal details have been updated.
You can submit a request for reconsideration through the tab labelled “Application for Reconsideration” on the website of the SRD, or you can call the toll-free number for the SASSA call centre.

Step 1: Find the ‘Application for Reconsideration’ tab.
Step 2: Click on where it says ‘click here to apply for reconsideration.
Step 3: You will be asked to provide your ID number and Mobile number.
Step 4: Follow the prompts to complete the reconsideration of your payment.

Step 3: Speak to the Sassa consultant to lodge your reconsideration request.
